You Were Made for This: Sent with Strength, Even in Weakness
Some things sound fun—until you’re strapped in, hanging upside down, and questioning every decision that brought you there. Take rollercoasters. You want the thrill, the experience, the story to tell. But as soon as that first drop hits, so does reality: this is terrifying. You feel that tension between the desire for adventure and the craving for safety. You don’t want to miss out—but you also kind of do.
Following Jesus can feel the same way. We want to be part of something meaningful. We want to make a difference and walk in purpose. But we also want comfort. We want to know how it’ll turn out before we take the first step. We want faith without fear. Calling without cost.
But here’s the truth: It’s going to be as difficult as you think. And it’s going to be more worth it than you can imagine.
Move First—Faith Will FolloW
In Luke 10, Jesus sends out seventy-two of His followers. His first word to them? “Go.” Not “pray about it,” not “wait until you feel ready,” not “fix everything first.” Just go.
He didn’t hide the reality—it would be dangerous, vulnerable, and uncertain. “I am sending you out like lambs among wolves.” That’s not exactly a pep talk. But it is honest. Jesus was clear: this mission is not easy, but it’s urgent. And His power doesn’t meet you when you’re perfectly prepared—it meets you when you’re moving.
Many of us are still standing at the starting line, waiting for a signal that’s already been fired. The race has begun. You don’t need more clarity—you need movement. Faith grows in motion. God leads as you go.
The One Who Sends You Changes Everything
Jesus didn’t just say go—He said “I am sending you.”
That’s personal. That’s powerful. And that’s the foundation of your courage. The strength of your calling isn’t in your gifting or your confidence. It’s in the One who sent you. It’s in His authority, not your ability.
Like a child walking into a dark room with their dad’s hand in theirs, our confidence doesn’t come from our own strength—It comes from who walks with us. When the Great I AM sends you, you are not walking into the unknown alone—you’re walking with the very One who holds the world together.
You’re not just going. You’re being sent.
Weakness Isn’t the Problem—It’s the Point
There’s something shocking about being called a lamb. It’s not a compliment. Lambs are fragile. Vulnerable. Dependent. But Jesus chooses that metaphor on purpose. Because the power of the mission isn’t in us—it’s in Him.
God loves to use weakness to show His strength. He’s not looking for the loudest voice or the biggest platform. He’s looking for people who are willing to trust Him, even when they don’t feel strong. Especially when they don’t feel strong.
“My power is made perfect in weakness.” – 2 Corinthians 12:9
“Apart from me, you can do nothing.” – John 15:5
Your resume doesn’t disqualify you. Your fear doesn’t eliminate you. In fact, they may be exactly what God wants to use. Weakness is your weapon when you stay close to the Shepherd.
Trust the One Who Goes With You
The truth is, you will face opposition. You will feel vulnerable. This mission is not safe. But it is secure—because the Shepherd is always near. He’s not watching from afar. He’s with you.
That’s the difference. Sheep don’t survive among wolves because they’re fast or smart. They survive because they stay close to the Shepherd. That’s how we make it, too. When Jesus is at the center of your life, no diagnosis, disappointment, or detour can take you out. You might bend, but you won’t break.
We don’t walk confidently because we’re brave. We walk confidently because we’re held.
You Were Made For This Moment
There are a lot of reasons people don’t step into the mission. “I don’t know enough.” “I’m not spiritual enough.” “It’s just not the right time.” But Jesus never said, “Go when you feel ready.” He simply said, “Go.”
There’s a world that needs peace, hope, healing, and truth—and the people who carry it are not perfect. They’re willing. You don’t need to be the best. You just need to be available.
You were never meant to just observe the Kingdom of God. You were meant to help build it. Right where you are. In your home, your workplace, your community.
Don’t wait for perfect conditions. Don’t wait for someone else to do it. You are sent.
Three Things to Remember as You Go
1️⃣ Faith starts with motion.
Stop waiting. Start moving. God will guide your steps when you’re willing to take the first one.
2️⃣ Your weakness isn’t a barrier—it’s a bridge.
When you feel dependent, God shows up strong. Keep showing up. Keep trusting.
3️⃣ Stay close to the Shepherd.
Prayer, worship, Scripture, and community aren’t religious checkboxes—they’re your lifeline. Your courage comes from connection, not control.
It’s not going to be easy. But it’s going to be worth it. Because you weren’t created to sit still. You were created to go—with strength, purpose, and the presence of God.
And the best part? You’re not going alone.
He’s the I AM. And He’s sending you.
