WE HAVE LOTS OF FUN | Discover Church Value #5
⛪️ MONDAY MORNING CHURCH ⛪️
Hey Discover Church,
If you’ve ever met me (Pastor Kyle), it won’t take long to figure out a few things about what I love:
☕ I love good coffee.
🙌 I love Jesus.
😂 AND I love to laugh.
Life should be a party! Our God has defeated death, and we get to live in freedom, so we should celebrate!
It’s true, life can be heavy at times – I’ve learned that we’re not always in a season of confetti and celebration, but whether we’re in a valley, on a mountain top, or somewhere in between, the joy of the LORD is our strength. No matter what you’re walking through, we want you to know that we’re here for you!
Here at Discover Church we have five main values as we get ready to launch this brand new church on September 21st, and I want to share with your our last one:
We Believe in Jesus.
We Teach the Bible.
We Put People First.
We Care for the Family.
We Have Lots of Fun.
We Like to Laugh! Church is also a party. People are God’s gift to the world, and community (although challenging sometimes) is a blessing and source of joy.
We believe life with Jesus shouldn’t be boring—it should be joyful.
Church shouldn’t be endured; it should be enjoyed. And so at Discover Church…
WE HAVE LOTS OF FUN!
Psalm 16:11 says:
“You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”
God is the source of joy. His presence is the source of fun. And the church? It should be the most joy-filled place on earth.
The Joy of the Lord is not just strength—it’s contagious.
At Discover Church, we take the Gospel seriously—but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
We laugh together. We play together. We make space for spontaneous moments, dance parties in the kids’ wing, and donut runs after service. Because joy is spiritual.
Ecclesiastes 3:12-13 says:
“I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.”
Yes, we work hard. Yes, we preach the Word. Yes, we’re on a mission!
But we also throw parties. We eat tacos. We make memories. And we laugh a lot.
Fun is part of our discipleship.
Jesus said to come to Him like a child. And what are kids best at? Wonder. Play. Delight. Fun builds connection. Laughter breaks down walls. And shared joy opens hearts to the Gospel.
You’ll see it in the way our team greets you at the door.
You’ll feel it in our services.
You’ll taste it in the coffee (because we don’t serve church coffee—we serve good coffee).
And your kids? They’ll beg to come back.
Fun isn’t a bonus. It’s part of how we help you win at what matters most.
The world can be heavy, fast, and full of pressure—fun reminds us we were made for more. We were made for life with God, in community, on mission—and that life is meant to be full of joy.
So what can you do this week?
1️⃣ Laugh on purpose.
Don’t wait for joy—create it. Watch a funny video with your kids. Text a friend a dumb meme. Lighten up. Life’s too short to stay stuck in serious. When your first intuition is to criticize, go to the negative, or frown, consider the beauty around you, the lightness from the weight God takes from you, and the closeness of God through His Word and Holy Spirit.
The kind of woman (and man) “laugh at the days to come” (Proverbs 31:25) is one who trusts that God is in control—unburdened by things outside of her control.
2️⃣ Bring someone with you.
People are way more likely to come to church if they know it’s not going to be weird or boring. Let them know it’s fun, real, and full of good people.
Joy isn’t meant to be experienced in isolation, or kept hidden from others. We want to enjoy all of what God has for us together, in a culture of celebration.
3️⃣ Celebrate a win.
Big or small—call it out, name it, cheer it on. Everyone loves a compliment, a gift, or a smile of acknowledgment. Gratitude and celebration are joy’s best friends. Let’s be a community that takes every opportunity to encourage one another through celebration.
4️⃣ Rest and play.
Yes, both. You were made for rhythms that include celebration. (Just ask the Israelites—God commanded festivals.)
We’re 48 days away from launching Discover Church (September 21st!), and we’re already seeing what God’s doing—through laughter, connection, and a whole lot of fun. We believe church should be the best hour of your week, and that joy should spill into the rest of your 168 hours.
We don’t fake fun. We live it.
Because where the Spirit of the Lord is—there is freedom. And where there’s freedom, there’s joy.
Have a great Monday, church.
