Light Always Wins | Finding Victory in Christ
Yesterday, our Launch Team leaders gathered at Mission Hills High School a week before launch to gather and prepare for what is going to be the most amazing Launch Weekend. We called it “Scrimmage Sunday”, and I shared a message titled “Light Always Wins.”
As we get closer to launch, I feel the reality of what Scripture tells us—that we’re not just stepping into a season of building a church, but stepping into a spiritual battle.
1. We Don’t Battle People, We Battle Darkness
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
The truth is: people aren’t the enemy—darkness is. It’s easy to confuse the two. But if we fight people, we’ll always use the wrong weapons. Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 10:4 that
“the weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.”
That means we don’t fight with anger, division, or control—we fight with prayer, faith, love, and God’s Word. The enemy doesn’t want your family to thrive, your faith to grow, or this church to move forward. But darkness doesn’t get the final say.
2. When the World is in Chaos, Christ is Still on the Throne
This past week reminded us of how broken our world is. Chaos can feel loud, frightening, and overwhelming. But chaos is not Lord—Christ is.
Colossians 1:17 says, “He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” Nothing slips through His hands.
A.W. Tozer put it this way: “While it looks like things are out of control, behind the scenes there is a God who hasn’t surrendered His authority.”
When you know who already won the victory, you can face the noise with peace. Loud doesn’t mean Lord. Violence doesn’t mean victory. Christ is still King, and His purposes can’t be stopped.
3. Our Battles Are Won in Prayer
Throughout His life, Jesus showed us that prayer is the true battleground. He withdrew often to talk with His Father. If He needed prayer, so do we.
Romans 12:12 encourages us to “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.”
Prayer pushes back darkness and keeps us aligned with God’s will.
This week, let’s pray for those grieving, for unity in our divided nation, and for revival in our city. Let’s keep talking to the One who has already won.
Church, remember this:
Light always wins.
Christ has the victory. And when we choose to fight the right fight—with prayer, with faith, with hope—we get to walk in that victory too.
Let’s step into this week, the week before launching a NEW CHURCH, in a city that has so many who do not know the love, freedom, and light of Jesus, knowing:
Darkness Doesn’t Win. Jesus Does.
See you LAUNCH SUNDAY!!!! Don’t forget to invite your friends and neighbors this week. A “no” is not as scary as an eternity without Jesus. You have the greatest invitation you could ever extend to someone.
Let’s be light!
