WE BELIEVE IN JESUS | Discover Church value #1

⛪️ MONDAY MORNING CHURCH ⛪️

Hey Discover Church,

You might not know it yet, but we have five Discover Church values:

  1. We Believe in Jesus.

  2. We Teach the Bible.

  3. We Put People First.

  4. We Have Lots of Fun.

  5. We Care for the Family.

Let’s take this week’s Monday Morning Church to look at our first value:

We Believe in Jesus.

Before there were interest parties, bounce houses, or planning meetings…Before a single worship set or sermon was crafted…

There was one reason we said “yes” to planting this church: Jesus.

Jesus isn’t part of Discover Church, Jesus is Discover Church. He’s not an accessory, He’s the center. Without Him, this isn’t a movement, it’s just a meet-up. Because Jesus has the power to change everything. Every broken story is made whole because of Him. Every addiction broken, every relationship healed, every identity restored because of Jesus.

It all begins and ends with one name: Jesus.

There’s a reason Discover Church’s first value is simple and bold: We believe in Jesus.

The power of Jesus doesn’t just comfort us, it rescues us.

It redeems what we thought was lost. It calls us out of dead things and into new life. And this isn’t just a belief we talk about on Sundays.

This is the foundation of our lives and this church.

He is the center. He is the vine. We are the branches.

| “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

Read that again: nothing!

Kara and I aren’t exactly green thumbs. We can’t keep plants alive. I’ll never forget the first time I went to IKEA and saw fake plants. I was too excited. We could finally fool people into thinking our plants were alive and thriving!

I bought them all.

They looked so real that when people came over, they’d compliment them. Totally fooled!

Fake.

Then a plant person came over and immediately spotted from across the room: “Those are fake.”

You can’t fake the truth. 🪴

And the truth for Discover Church is this:

If Jesus isn’t going, neither are we.

Because He’s the center. He comes first. Sure, we might be able to fool a few people for a while… But eventually, we’ll be powerless—just another gathering without real life.

It reminds me of Exodus 33:15, where Moses says to God:

|“If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.”

That’s how I feel right now, as we are just 13 weeks from LAUNCH SUNDAY on September 21: Jesus, if you’re not going, we’re not going. We don’t want a future without You in it.

We put Jesus first because nothing works without Him. 🥇

If He’s not leading, we’re lost.

If He’s not building it, it won’t last.

5 Ways to Put Jesus First This Week

1. Start your morning with Him:

Before emails or errands, pause to pray and open Scripture. A Proverb a day goes a long way. Find a devotional on the YouVersion Bible app, or follow the Life Journal Reading Plan and journal about what you’ve read. First voice wins.

2. Invite Him into your decisions

Whether it’s parenting, work stress, or a relationship, ask, “Jesus, what would you have me do?” Then actually pause (I know—crazy!) to listen.

3. Talk about Him with someone

Bring up Jesus in conversation—at the dinner table, with your kids, or with a coworker. If He’s first in your heart, let Him be first on your lips.

4. Worship throughout the week

Don’t wait for Sunday. Put on worship music in the car, at home, or during your workout. Let your atmosphere reflect your priority. Here’s a great Spotify playlist to start with!

5. Obey what He’s already told you

You don’t need a new word if you haven’t acted on the last one. Putting Jesus first means walking in obedience—even when it’s inconvenient.

We’re not trying to build a church that impresses people. We’re building a church that exalts Jesus. Because when Jesus is lifted up, lives are changed and hope is restored.

Let’s keep Him first—this week and every week.

Because when Jesus wins, you win. And when you win, your family wins at what matters most.
